Position Overview

As a Dealership Accounting Clerk, you will ensure the accuracy and validity of accounting processes on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. This role is vital for maintaining financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll taxes, and bank reconciliations while supporting the overall accounting and administrative functions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organized and accurate accounting system
  • Receive, reconcile, and process vendor invoices
  • Prepare customer invoices and credit batches
  • Reconcile daily cash deposits
  • Prepare accounts payable checks and manage open accounts payable items daily
  • Reconcile statements and ledgers ensuring payments meet schedules
  • Manage petty cash system
  • Assist customers and banks with refunds and cancellations
  • Comply with local, state, and federal reporting and tax filing requirements
  • Maintain updated files for accounts receivable and payable
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures for all accounting transactions
  • Provide administrative support including answering phone calls, typing, filing, and data entry
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and educational sessions as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred experience in dealerships, with knowledge of Reynolds and Reynolds software considered a plus
  • College degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • At least one year of experience in a business office with general accounting responsibilities
  • Strong proficiency with computer and internet applications
  • Ability to handle confidential information with care
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Familiarity with business applications and accounting software is beneficial
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Excellent data entry and time management skills
  • Professional demeanor and reliability
