Position Summary

The Dealership Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate and valid accounting records, including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. This role involves managing financial records, reconciling bank statements, processing vendor invoices, and supporting the dealership’s accounting systems.

Additionally, the position provides administrative support such as data entry, filing, assisting customers, and collaborating with banks regarding refunds and cancellations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an orderly and accurate accounting system
  • Receive, reconcile, and process vendor invoices
  • Prepare customer invoices and credit batches
  • Reconcile daily cash deposits
  • Prepare accounts payable checks and post open items daily
  • Reconcile statements and ledgers to ensure timely payments
  • Manage petty cash systems
  • Assist customers and banks with refunds and cancellations
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and tax filing requirements
  • Maintain updated accounts receivable and payable files
  • Verify all transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Provide administrative assistance including answering phones and filing
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and educational sessions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Experience in a dealership environment preferred
  • Familiarity with Reynolds and Reynolds software is a plus
  • College degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience with general accounting duties in a business office
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Effective data entry and time management skills
  • Professional and dependable work ethic
